News – The Flaming Lips – The Teardrop Throbs

Sept ans après King’s Mouth: Music and Songs, The Flaming Lips s’apprêtent à ouvrir un nouveau chapitre de leur carrière avec The Teardrop Throbs, leur dix-septième album studio.

Annoncé pour le 22 janvier, ce nouveau disque paraîtra chez Third Man Records, le label fondé par Jack White.

The Teardrop Throbs est leur premier album inédit depuis sept ans, mais également de leur premier disque en trente-sept ans à ne pas paraître chez Warner, maison de disques historique du groupe. Autre changement notable : The Teardrop Throbs est le premier album des Flaming Lips depuis trente-cinq ans à être enregistré sans Steven Drozd, multi-instrumentiste qui a longtemps joué un rôle essentiel dans l’identité musicale du groupe et qui ne fait désormais plus partie de l’aventure.

L’album réserve également une surprise aux amateurs de la discographie du groupe avec « Ego Tripping Part Two », une nouvelle variation autour de « Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell », titre emblématique de Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, paru en 2002.
