Bob Stanley et Pete Wiggs du groupe St Etienne sont à l’origine d’une nouvelle compilation intitulée The Tears Of Technology.

L’album de 20 titres célèbre le début des années 1980 où «les synthés envahissaient la pop britannique».

La compilation mêle quelques grands noms – Simple Minds, The Human League, OMD – avec des groupes obscures tels que Turquoise Days, Electronic Circus ou Illustration et quelques pionniers comme John Foxx et Thomas Leer.

La version vinyle 2LP comprend un titre bonus: «The Winds» de The Turquoise Swimming Pools.
