 Flotsam and Jetsam est une collection de faces B, de remixes et de raretés de la carrière solo de Peter Gabriel.

La compilation comprend plus de 60 morceaux, la plupart ont déjà été publiés sur des disques vinyles, des CD, des bandes originales ou des albums hommage, mais, à quelques exceptions près, sortent pour la première fois en format numérique.

La collection – classée chronologiquement – est divisée en trois époques.

La première, 1976-1985, couvre la période de l’après Genesis et les débuts en solo de Peter Gabriel. Elle s’ouvre sur une reprise des Beatles, Strawberry Fields Forever.

La seconde, 1986-1993, est la période à succès de Peter Gabriel avec notamment les inédits des albums “So” et “Us”.

La troisième époque, 1994-2016 comprend des remixes de l’album «Up», ainsi que des morceaux utilisés dans divers films et des reprises. La compilation se termine par The Veil, écrit spécialement pour le film d’Oliver Stone «Snowden».
