Factory Records va célébrer ses 40 ans avec la sortie de deux coffrets consacrés au légendaire label indépendant de Manchester.
Les deux coffrets – Use Hearing Protection: Factory Records 1978-1979 et Factory: Communications 1978-1992 – rassemblent des documents rares et inédits aux côtés des classiques de Factory.
Le premier coffret, Use Hearing Protection: Factory Records 1978-1979 contient des éditions en fac-similé des 10 premiers articles numérotés: 4 disques vinyle, 3 affiches, un court métrage et bien d’autres surprises. Il contient également un livre de 60 pages comprenant notamment des photos de Kevin Cummins et des entretiens avec Tony Wilson, Rob Gretton, Joy Division…

Le coffret est limité à 4 000 exemplaires et sortira le 11/10/2019.
Une exposition, également intitulée Use Hearing Protection, organisée par Jon Savage et Mat Bancroft, racontera les premières années de Factory Records de 1978 à 1982 à travers les 50 premiers artefacts numérotés du label. On y trouvera notamment des œuvres de Peter Saville, de Joy Division, New Order, A Certain Ratio, Durutti Column et Linder Sterling. L’exposition Factory se tiendra au London Design Festival du 13 septembre au vendredi 25 octobre 2019. L’entrée est gratuite.
Le deuxième coffret est une réédition de la compilation Factory: Communications 1978-1992, regroupant 63 chansons de groupes qui ont marqués l’histoire de Factory durant 15 ans.
A l’origine, Factory: Communications 1978-92 a été publié sous la forme de 4CD en 2009. Il sera désormais disponible en coffret vinyle 8LP et publié en 500 exemplaires le 08/11/2019.
