Chrissie Hynde a publié son dernier album solo, Standing In The Doorway, en 2021.

Aujourd’hui, la leader et la cofondatrice du groupe The Pretenders a annoncé un album de reprises intitulé « Duets Special » à paraitre le 17 octobre via Rhino.

Pour ce projet, l’artiste a fait appel a un casting exceptionnel dont Brandon Flowers (The Killers), Cat Power, Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Debbie Harry (Blondie), Alan Sparhawk (Low), Shirley Manson (Garbage), Lucinda Williams, Dan Auerbach des Black Keys et le regretté Mark Lanegan.

Avec ses invités, Chrissie Hynde interprète des chansons d’Elvis Presley, Morrissey, Low, 10cc, The Righteous Brothers, Billy Paul et Brenda Holloway. Elle interprète également une reprise des Beatles avec Julian Lennon.

Pour le premier extrait, Chrissie Hynde a dévoilé son interprétation du classique « Always On My Mind » enregistré avec Rufus Wainwright.

Wayne Carson, Johnny Christopher et Mark James ont écrit « Always On My Mind ». Gwen McRae a sorti la première version du morceau en 1972. De nombreux autres artistes l’ont reprise depuis. Elvis Presley a été le premier à en faire un tube.
