The Hard Quartet est un nouveau groupe composé d’Emmett Kelly (The Cairo Gang, The Double), Stephen Malkmus (Pavement, The Jicks), Matt Sweeney (Red Dead Redemption 2, Guided by Voices, Cat Power, Johnny Cash) et Jim White (Dirty Three, Xylouris white, Cat Power, Bill Callahan).

Le quatuor sortira son premier album éponyme le 4 octobre via Matador Records.

Le groupe a partagé un nouvel extrait intitulé Rio’s Song.
